Provisioning Teams, the good, the bad, the ugly…

Abstract:

Many of us in our daily roles are asked to provision, secure and configure Microsoft Teams in rapid fashion for our organization. In some organizations this can be quite time consuming depending on the various layers of complexity in the configuration requirements we were given. This session examines many different interfaces and methods to automate the process of creating a Team (capital ‘T’), securing it, configuring it from settings right down to creating a Plan within it. To do so, we will examine the request process and data collection using PowerApps, then provisioning & configuration using several methods of automation including from Flow/Azure Logic Apps, Azure Runbooks/Functions, Powershell, and GraphAPI.

Speaker:

Richard Toland, Chief Technology Officer at Focal Point Solutions.

Tell Web Ads to Shut Their Pi-hole!

Abstract:

Speed up your browsing and protect your privacy and security by setting up a Pi-hole! It is free small DNS server that is “a black hole for Internet advertisements” that runs on a Raspberry Pi. We’ll talk briefly about the Raspberry Pi, then learn how to setup Pi-hole on your network for use with all of your devices. With a low cost Raspberry Pi and an hour of setup time, we now surf faster and more securely, with nearly 40% of our DNS queries blocked. Its amazing how much more enjoyable using the web can be, you’ll cry when you have to surf without it.

June 2021 – Using Azure Policy & Initiatives with Azure Security Center for Organizational Governance & Compliance

Topic:

Using Azure Policy & Initiatives with Azure Security Center for Organizational Governance & Compliance

Abstract:

Challenges arise within a cloud environment when resources can be created that may affect, cost, security, or regulatory jurisdictions. Role-based access control (RBAC) and the principles of least privilege provide levels of restriction to users and groups within the environment as to what resources they can access or create, but they do not set parameters on where they can be created, the level of cost, or the security requirements. Azure policies are created, assigned, and utilized to govern the resources within your Azure subscription. Policies should be put in place based on the business, security, and financial requirements of the organization. This session will explore these three areas and examples of each that can be assigned and monitored.
