Join us as Zach Willand discusses aspects of PowerBI that may help new administrators or report builders of the service get started.  Additionally, the talk will highlight the benefits of using app packages, using data flows to reduce strain on refresh time, the costs/benefits of near real-time data vs real-time data, and common data architecture mistakes.

Speaker:

Zach Willand is a Business Intelligence developer at Davis H. Elliot Company. Upon graduating college, Zach was a research analyst in a virology lab at the University of Kentucky where his love of data and analytics began. He then obtained his M.S. in Applied Engineering and Technology Management with a concentration in cyber security. Currently, Zach has been focused on driving organizational improvement by utilizing tools such as Power BI, SQL, and cloud-based solutions like Azure Data Factory and Azure Automation to facilitate better business decisions with meaningful data. Zach was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, but has been living in the Central Kentucky area for the last two decades.

He served in the Army for 9 years as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne suffering through 3 years of ‘hardship’ in Hawaii. During his 18 years in the IT industry he has achieved his MCSE, was an early adopter of HyperV, worked with SharePoint since 2007 and has been involved with the PowerPlatform for over a year. His current focus is migrating all existing mobile applications and SPD Workflows to PowerPlatform. Donovan is also the father of six children.

This HTML5-based UI can be set up in minutes and can manage a wide variety of servers, roles, and functions. There are new releases every six months, and paired with an extensible API, WAC is always going to be getting new features.
